As the Guardian of the Tree Camp by Knuckles, I am an intrepid champion of sustainable tourism, outdoor recreation, and the spellbinding allure of nature. My favor for ecosystems, wildlife, and the communities of the forest villages is as unyielding as the steadfast roots of the majestic trees that loom over the Knuckles Forest reserve.

The abandoned village area surrounding the Knuckles Forest reserve is a living masterpiece that inspires me. I strive to create a camping system that harmonizes with the natural environment, leaving only the smallest ecological footprint while still providing guests with the most authentic and unique outdoor living experience. This is why I envisioned the Tree Camp by Knuckles - a place where guests can indulge in nature's wonders without causing harm to the habitat of wild animals.

Trekking and glamping are my passions, as they allow me to immerse myself in the grandeur of nature and let my imagination run wild. Exploring the abandoned villages and pristine, hidden waterfalls, untouched areas of forests, and tree camping under the stars is where I find pure joy. The abandoned villages nestled in the forest are an ode to the profound connection between humans and nature, and these isolated, off-the-beaten-path areas offer a sense of solitude that is unparalleled in any other camping experience.

We have designed the Tree Camp by Knuckles concept to benefit the local village community. Our guests have the opportunity to trek through the villages in the forest, resulting in a mental well-being advantage, as well as a chance to experience the local way of life and support the community.

Remote Operation

Our campsite is only accessible by foot, and our guests have the opportunity to trek through the stunning Knuckles forest reserve, one of the most beautiful trekking destinations in Sri Lanka. At our Tree Camp by Knuckles, we believe that the local community is an integral part of our operations. We work closely with the community to ensure that our business has a positive impact on the environment, the people, and the local economy. Employ local villagers

By hiring local villagers as village guides, porters, and other staff, I provide them job opportunities and a source of income. This helps to support the local economy and can also help to build a sense of community pride. Situationally, I ask opinions and ideas of local people relating to trekking and village community involved matters such as the development of new ecotourism products, infrastructure and supplies.

Purchase locally sourced products

Whenever possible, I buy food, supplies, and other materials from local villages. This helps to support local businesses and ensures that my guests are experiencing local culture and traditions.

Beneficiary role of Community

Through our CSV practices and other CSR practices We help to improve the overall quality of life in the village and fosters a positive relationship between our Tree Camp by Knuckles and the local community. In summary, the local community plays an essential role in our glamping tent camping company. From trained local guides to involvement in decision-making, CSV and CSR activities, mental wellbeing, profit sharing, and local sourcing of groceries, we are committed to building a sustainable and mutually beneficial relationship with the community.
